Project Description

I want you to know how important you have been to my career as an artist.  I came to Sedona almost 5 years ago with the intention of being a relaxed retired person.  After 37 years of teaching, I thought I’d be hiking, reading, relaxing, traveling….  Then I discovered the Sedona Art Center and took my very first art class from you.  It was Drawing Without Fear, and because I had never done art before, I thought that would be a good place to start.  If I couldn’t draw, I figured there was no sense pursuing anything else. I have to tell you that you are an amazing teacher.  You showed us what to look for while drawing, and your gentle, loving technique made me confident that I could draw.  You were supportive of us all, and gave constructive criticism along with words of praise.  But more than that, you taught me not to be afraid of art, and because of this, I tried many new mediums until I found one that I became passionate about.  Now I’m a full-fledged artist, and have a successful art career.

I want to thank you for sharing your gift!!  Because of you, I learned not be afraid to try new things.  Because of you, I have a new found confidence in myself.  You will always have a special place in my heart, and I will always remember you as one of the best teachers I’ve ever had.  As a math teacher, my goal was to make my students less afraid of the subject and hopefully create a love for the subject.  Well, my dear friend, you did both for me, and I will be forever grateful!!!
