This is an oldie, from back when I was at RISD. My junior year i was given a studio, with no instruction or direction… and that was it. I didn’t know what to paint, and after casting around for awhile , I set up a chair in the corner of the studio and drew and painted it all year. I was taking more time trying to decide what to paint than actually painting, so it seemed like a good solution. The paintings were surprisingly different. This is how I start always anything: with drawing. Drawing is still my favorite love affair.
